My Files for Faculty and Staff

Faculty and Staff members now have access to 2GB of space for business-related data files stored on SU servers. These files can be accessed through the T:\ drive at any campus workstation. For convenience, they can also be accessed from off-campus with the Internet Explorer web browser.

On-campus Workstation Access

  • Simply save any files you are working on into the T:\ drive at the workstation.
  • The T:\ drive will retain your documents when you log off.
  • To protect your documents, it is very important that you log off of the workstation. If you forget to log off, anyone can sit down and have full access to your documents at that workstation. To log off the workstation, click on
  • Start | Shutdown | Log off userid  | OK

Off-Campus Access

  • You must use Internet Explorer. Other browsers are not supported and may not provide complete functionality.
  • In the location bar, type   ftp://files.ship.edu
  • When prompted for User Name, enter your complete Ship.edu email address
  • When prompted for Password, enter your Ship email password
  • If you are using Internet Explorer 7, click on Page and Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer
  • You will be able to drag and drop your files to your current desktop and back to the ftp://files.ship.edu server. You cannot edit files directly through the web browser. They must be copied to the local machine first to edit them and then you can drag them to back to the browser window to resave them to the ftp://files.ship.edu server.
